Aurora's work toward boosting its economy is paying off with the arrival of new industrial businesses and through existing companies investing in their facilities.
While commercial and retail sectors are on the uptick, according to Aurora Economic Development Director Jack Burg, industrial businesses have proven to be paramount to Aurora's growing economy. Its support of the strong existing industrial market is attracting more industrial companies to the city.
Some new industrial companies in Aurora include Specialized Inc., Premalux LLC/Accublends, CardPak and Natural Essentials, which have delivered significant job growth to the region. The latest addition is Metaullics Systems, a division of Pyrotek, which announced its move to Aurora's southern industrial park last year.
With industrial business growth, Aurora's holistic economic vitality will continue to thrive.
A Stronger Business Community
Industrial businesses account for 81% of local tax revenue. This directly impacts Aurora's ability to appeal to outside businesses. The tax revenue is invested in the city's infrastructure. Executive Director of Aurora's Chamber of Commerce Laura Holman explained to the Aurora Advocate that this helps keep "our streets in top shape and our safety forces properly staffed."
The new industrial businesses also bring in more employees who shop and strengthen other city businesses, such as retail shops, restaurants and other services. According to Aurora's Economic and Entrepreneurial Development (EED), the city's "excellent schools, recreational opportunities, quaint small-town character and charm also make this city an outstanding location in which to work, live and raise a family."
Proud to Do Business in Aurora
Security Self Storage is proud to do business in Aurora's thriving economy. Security Self Storage President Norm Kotoch has family in the city and was well aware of its growth. He was confident that Aurora would be an attractive location to expand the business.
"We love Aurora and the people there," Kotoch says. "We were optimistic about our ability to grow our business in relation to the city's growth. We see opportunities to expand at that location and continue to improve on what was already a very good storage facility."
